New Milwaukee Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins revealed that Giannis Antetokounmpo has already made contact with him following his appointment.
“He’s shown great excitement for me and my family,” Jenkins said. “We’ve built a strong relationship and kept that mutual respect, even from a distance.”
Jenkins was officially presented as the Bucks’ new head coach on Wednesday, taking over a team now navigating significant uncertainty regarding Antetokounmpo’s future.
Despite external speculation, Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam confirmed that communication between the organization and Antetokounmpo has remained steady since the season ended.
“We’ve never had any issue communicating directly with Giannis,” Haslam said. “Those conversations have continued since the season ended. We’ll do what’s best for both Giannis and the organization.”
Jenkins, who spent six seasons as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, becomes Milwaukee’s fourth head coach in five years, following Mike Budenholzer, Adrian Griffin, and Doc Rivers.
