Two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov shared his thoughts on Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov being named a finalist for the Hart Trophy. The award is given annually to the NHL’s most valuable player to his team during the regular season.
Kucherov is one of three nominees, alongside Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon and Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
“I had no doubt Kucherov would be nominated. Whether he wins is another question. He’s a phenomenal player who proves himself year after year, piling up over 100 points each season. MacKinnon and McDavid are worthy contenders, but we’re rooting for Kucherov. He has a real shot,” Kozhevnikov said.
“Given how Nikita played this season, I really want him to take the trophy. I watched a lot of NHL games this year and got pure aesthetic pleasure from Kucherov’s performances,” he added.
