Hockey Canada has appointed 19-year-old forward Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks as the captain for the 2026 IIHF World Championship, set to take place in Switzerland from May 15 to 31.
The team’s alternate captains will be veteran forwards Ryan O’Reilly (Nashville Predators) and John Tavares (Toronto Maple Leafs), both 35 years old.
The Canadian roster for the 2026 World Championship also features Mathew Barzal, Mark Scheifele, Evan Bouchard, and Morgan Rielly, among others.
