After securing the 2025-26 La Liga title with a win over Real Madrid, Barcelona have confirmed their opponent for the 2027 Spanish Super Cup semi-final: Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Sociedad on penalties, meaning they qualify for the Super Cup as runners-up and will now face league champions Barcelona in the semi-final.
This will be the second time the two sides meet in the Spanish Super Cup this decade. The first encounter came in 2020, when Atletico defeated Barcelona 3-2 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Saudi Arabia to advance to the final.
The other semi-final pairing is yet to be determined, but strong indications suggest it could be between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. Real Sociedad won the Copa del Rey, while Real Madrid are close to securing second place in La Liga, holding an eight-point lead over third place with nine points still up for grabs.
